Medical Specialties + Roles
One of the best benefits of the Military for physicians is variety, not only in specialties but in roles as well. For example, you may find yourself in the position of a flight surgeon, where not only are you responsible for the health of your squadron, but you also get to fly on a regular basis. Or you could take the academic route and research specific diseases or teach military medical school students. This list is just a sample of the opportunities available.
Please note that this list only includes specialties service members can train for in the active-duty Army, Navy and Air Force, along with the Guard or Reserve components, and not actual openings. All specialties are welcome, but openings change frequently based on need. For the latest availabilities in all Services, we recommend speaking with a recruiter.
